Service sales tax unlikely in Ohio tax package
Sen. Richard H. Finan of Cincinnati said vigorous opposition to a proposed 5 percent sales tax on services has all but killed it as part of the new state tax package. He also rejected a House idea to offer a state income tax credit for low income families in exchange for higher sales taxes. Finan said the "pretty well dead" plan comes as the Ways and Means Committee wraps up work on the House bill and prepares its own plan for discussion next week, with revenue projections on taxes to guide a final package estimated at 750 million to 1.25 billion.
