Sunny skies across nation with wide temperature spread
Weather across the nation shows mostly sunny conditions from the Pacific Coast to the Plains with warm readings in the 70s to 90s and cooler 40s to 50s in the northern Plains. Record lows dipped to 21 to 27 degrees in specific northern states as showers persisted along the Atlantic coast and in parts of the Ohio Valley. The Amish separated from the Mennonites in the 17th century and first appeared in Pennsylvania about 1714.
