A set of one man harvesting implements can be run by any farm tractor, cutting labor costs and enabling farmers in central Illinois to bind, shock, and thresh grain without traveling threshers. The new equipment includes a binder, automatic shocker, and a thresher, reducing harvest time and freeing farmers from dependence on outside crews.
Lorain on October 14 two youths Alvin Meyers 14 and Arnold Baird 26 confessed to buying and removing a safe from the Lorain branch of The Cleveland Press. They claimed fear prevented a "blow" and said they forced it open by jimmied entry, then carried it to a car in back of the building. They will be returned to Lancaster Reformatory.
Miss Blue Eyes was presented at the Tiluito theater last evening before a fair house. The play was tuneful and included many funny situations with an Hinjosene that drew laughter. The singing was pleasant but voices fell short of expected quality. The chorus was good and the overall show satisfaction was reported.
Paris reports the Journal Officiel announces President Poincare signed the ratifying document with Germany and related Versailles clauses, ending the state of war. The acts will be deposited at the foreign office per the peace treaty final clauses.
Two former Michigan Central railroad employees, Herbert Musselman and Frank Durkel, were arrested in Chicago on October 14 in connection with a string of robberies totaling over 500000. The loot included silks, furs, laces, shoes, and wearing apparel diverted through an alleged fictitious firm. Also reported, heavy frost damaged crops in lowlands south of Lorain.
