Early voting starts strong in Lorain County
Lorain County voters turned out on the first day of early voting with 836 people at the Board of Elections in Sheffield Township. Officials note rising registration and mail in requests as in person voting runs 8 am to 5 pm weekdays, expanding to 8 am to 6 pm late October.

Bond lowered in crash that killed Ohio trooper Kenneth Velez
A Cuyahoga County judge cut the bond of Joshua Gaspar from 1 million to 500000 after a hearing. Gaspar, 37, of Columbia Station, faces DUI and aggravated vehicular homicide charges from the Sept. 15 Interstate 90 crash that killed Trooper Velez. Prosecutors had sought a higher bond citing a reckless driving and drug history. toxicology results are pending.
