Spencer's Sesquicentennial Prep Reveals Local Pioneers
Plans for the Spencer township and village sesquicentennial in 1973 advance with a history book project and an uncovering of local figures. Calvin Spencer funded a school, but John P. Marsh, the first settler, is largely unrecognized. Marsh's wife Clarissa Rogers Marsh played a key role in early civic and religious life. District residents are advised of Homecoming rescheduling and a paper drive, while the board weighs baccalaureate and graduation arrangements.

New construction management concept proposed for vocational school expansion
Architects Crider and Hackworthy proposed a construction management service for Lorain County Joint Vocational School's planned 7 million expansion. They would charge 4 percent plus the existing 6 percent fee, claiming a potential 315000 savings and full time superintendents to oversee all phases, enabling more direct contracting and reduced subcontracting. The Elyria board will study the idea further before deciding.
