U S air power forces land of hijacked Achille Lauro
U S warplanes under President Reagan ordered an Egyptian jet carrying four Palestinian hijackers to land in Sicily at 7 30 p m EDT. The four men, tied to a PLO splinter group, were seized for prosecution after the 69 year old Leon Klinghoffer was killed aboard the luxury liner. The hijackers surrendered to PLO representatives in Port Said before the incident moved to international airspace and Sicily.
