United States relief efforts reported strong with the Associated Charities detailing caseloads and services from Oct 1 1923 to Oct 1 1924. The annual report cites 127 total families aided and numerous programs including medical aid clothing and housing support.
Fort Worth Texas October 9 The dirigible Shenandoah described as the pride of the navy pointed westward at 947 this morning and began the long cross country flight to clear the Rocky mountains in what officers call the toughest part of the 5000 mile voyage.
The Higha public schools will close Friday October 24 and Saturday October 25 to allow 46 teachers to attend the fall meeting of the Northeastern Onis Teachers Association in Cleveland. Schools statewide may close for the event with several thousand teachers expected at the meetings.
H. J. Stapleton sues Walter Burnison in Common Pleas Court to force half of $525 unpaid bills and $97 borrowed from partnership funds for the Mathew Price home repair at 708 Middle Avenue. He says the contract was to complete the $2,900 job but costs exceeded that amount.
The second report dinner at the Y M C A shows the Bair Kat and Thom Kat divisions each recording 41 members, totaling 243 with two days of drives left. Judge Funk of Wooster spoke on the Y M C A history as Oscar Dunn’s team led the boys, while David Hyman and A C Hudcut tied for individual honors and Ronald Dunn led in memberships.
George Albert Rawson of 741 West River Street died suddenly yesterday at 3 30 pm while working on a driveway. He was 69 years old and a lifelong resident of LaGrange and Elyria. Survived by daughter Mrs. Robert G. Smith Elyria sons Carl Albert Lorain Gordon Ara Elyria two sisters Mrs Hattie Gray Boise Idaho and Mrs Robert Lamberton Denver Colorado. Funeral from 741 West River Street Saturday at 2 00 am with Rev G M Knapp officiating. Burial in LaGrange.
Elyria reports from Council Bluffs Iowa clear Miss Nettie Mann of all blame in a fatal Tuesday night crash. Police say the Winton driver was a witness not a contributor. The Ford coupe skidded on a wet hill and struck a telephone pole. Mann was freed pending investigation after posting a nominal bond.
Memorial Hall Committee meeting adjourned due to absence of members and will reconvene Thursday November 13 to finalize definite plans. In Washington the War Department bans army aviators from flying over cities at low altitude and near stadiums and crowds to allow safe gliding in emergencies.
London dispatch reports King George promising dissolution of parliament after the Laborite cabinet's 364 to 198 defeat in the House of Commons. Premier MacDonald vowed resignation if the censure motion passed as Irish boundary bill looms and unemployment rises.
T O Kennedy of the Ohio Public Service Co outlined an $80 million super power network to link 130,000 Ohio stockholders with existing plants from the Ohio River to Lake Erie and Lima. The plan, financed by bonds to small investors, aims to expand public utilities under current profit limits.

The sheriff's department announced the onset of fall chicken stealing with raids on J A David's Oberlin farm nets 60 hens and spring towls stolen. Farmers aiding with tips and descriptions will help catch thieves as in prior years when a thief was shot after fall raids. Independents respond to Butler's challenge over campaign war chests.
Elyria plans a public hearing on a new traffic ordinance amid 175 Lorain arrests. City officials seek citizen input before passage, with debate over parking in the business district. A rushed vote may suspend rules to enact the measure tonight.

Lorain reports $584,505 pledged to Governor Donaher's relief fund with $499,655 paid in. H G Curtis of the Lorain Chamber of Commerce notes the tally after talks in Columbus with Governor Donahue and Fred Croston, head of the relief commission. Washington predicts moving pictures and entertainment on radio within five years, with Dr J H Dellinger noting home movie projectors may precede cheap sets.
In Washington Griffith Stadium on October 9 the Senators and Giants prepared for Game Six. Harris delivered a fifth inning single scoring two runs for the Senators as a pregame memorial honored Jake Daubert. In the fifth, Peck singled and Harris followed with a run producing single, McNeely stole second, and both scored on Harris’ hit to right. Two runs, two hits, one left.
A short circuit caused a fire damaging a Ford truck owned by Ohio Public Service Co. at Broad Street and Robson Court at 5 25 p m yesterday. Firemen from No 1 station extinguished the blaze with chemicals. A second item reports a drunken man in custody aboard Train No 1 on New York Central, later booked as Al Tolger 39 Toledo.
Lillian M. Sherrill files in Common Pleas Court for 10090 dollars in damages claiming A L Dakin owned a French bulldog that attacked her while she treated its injured eye at her home. She says the dog grabbed her and dragged her across the kitchen floor.
On Oct 9 a prefecture order sent Prince Luis Ferdinand of Spain abroad amid a confusion over a supposed Spanish crown prince. Police actions prevented a possible abduction and revealed the near-mistaken victim was Luis Ferdinand, cousin to the Spanish king.
