Oberlin council rejects three-dog limit proposal
Oberlin city council debated a three dog per household limit as part of a strengthened animal control law but voted 5 to 2 against imposing such a cap. The Human Relations Commission had urged three dogs as the absolute limit, while some officials warned the rule would punish dog lovers with multiple well cared for pets. The council approved stronger penalties on a 4 to 3 vote, with the measure needing three readings to pass. A separate three-dog-delay proposal failed, and discussions about cats included possible bells and leash rules, with no action taken.
