Sheriff’s men uncovered three illicit stills, two buried in a river and one hidden in a basement, after raids on John Clark in Russia township and Peter Dobbeck in Amherst. Clark, arrested for possession of liquor making gear, denied ownership. Dobbeck admitted two years of liquor manufacture.

City faces fire department cuts to avert budget crisis

State charges contractor Barshaw with fraudulent transfer

Banker Dailey Given Penalty After Embezzlement Guilty Plea
Fred Dailey former cashier of the Commercial and Savings Bank Bethesda pleaded guilty in common pleas court to embezzlement charges and was sentenced to up to 30 years in the Ohio penitentiary. He had admitted lending bank funds to a radio promoter and turned over all property for restitution. The bank closed last summer amid a $360,000 shortage.
