In Camaguey a two hour battle between Menocal supporters and police left seven dead and 67 wounded, with fifteen gravely hurt. The attack followed an assault on Menocal's special train near Camaguey as Cuba braces for a presidential race. President Zayas and others are accused of backing rival General Machado.
Edward Reed the night watchman was bound to a railing as three yeggs forced open the Thompson Rainie Barbour Department Store vault in Toledo Ohio early today and escaped with about 35000 in cash and valuables.
John Fritz of 1104 Middle avenue and Co. B Miller of the Cleveland team broke collar bones in a football game between the Cleveland Panthers and the Elyria Elke at Alumni Field yesterday afternoon. Both players were treated at Elyria Memorial hospital and sent home after injuries were deemed non life threatening.
Manuel Lopez sues Serafin Maillo and Manuel Otero in Common Pleas Court seeking $4000 from an alleged restaurant sale. He claims he delivered a bill of sale but未 received payment, faced threats, and was barred from the restaurant. He seeks injunctions to stop disposal of the property and interference, and requests a receiver to run the business.
Yesterday at 1 30 p m an accident on the Oberlin La Grange road overturned the Sunderland Car traveling south toward La Grange after being struck by a westbound vehicle. Both drivers escaped injury and only minor damage occurred. P A Mullin of Lorain paid a 5 fine and costs in police court for leaving his car with the engine running on Broad Street Saturday night.
At Wellington a Republican rally featured Attorney General C. C Crabbe Judge Ross W Funk and Arthur W Doyle with Gertrude Day Dow. Crabbe defended the U S Supreme Court attacked Donahey and La Follette while praising Governor Davis and urging a Republican Congress and president. Doyle pledged loyalty to Coolidge and attacked tax plans. Dow warned against attacks on the constitution and the Supreme Court as La Follette was criticized.
A 300 bandits held up a passenger train on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec railway killing twenty five including the train's military guard. They looted passengers and rifled the mails. A strong federal force was dispatched to pursue the rebels, active for weeks with multiple robberies and murders.
Jamestown New York Oct. Seven members of the Fitzoli family die when their car is struck by a Pennsylvania railroad passenger train at a grade crossing near Port Allegany. The mother two daughters and four sons are among the dead while John Fitzoli, the father, is badly injured and may die. The locomotive pilot was torn from the engine in the collision.

Warren J Lincoln a horticulturist and lawyer who confessed to sawing and quartering his wife Lina and Byron Shoup stood before Judge R Kendall in Kane county circuit court. His lawyers described him as a hopeless idiot. He had led police to blocks of concrete containing the victims heads.

In New York a French piracy case centers on Max Jerome Phaff scarred by shipping raids off New York. His wife vows to raise funds and aid to prove his innocence, insisting he would not steal and is honest. The couple has a five year old daughter.
Justice J. George presided over liquor law cases with four defendants. Ed Godfrey pleaded guilty to transporting liquor and was fined 500 dollars. Fred Griffis and a co defendant also pleaded guilty to transporting liquor with 500 dollar fines. John Clark denied possession of liquor third offense and was bound over to the grand jury under a 1000 dollar bond. Griffis was remanded to county jail until the fine is paid and others faced varying charges with pleas of not guilty or hearings scheduled.

William B. Massey metropolitan Oil Company terminal superintendent was murdered at Tomo Mexico by Jaquin Saenz. Massey’s widow and two children survive. Massey was a Muskogee Oklahoma resident. Also Mary Tussel of Elyria files for divorce from Charles Tussel in Common Pleas Court citing cruelty drunkenness and neglect. The couple wed in 1930 and have a 13 year old boy.
At Polo Grounds on October 6 1924 the New York Giants defeated the Washington Senators six to four in the third World Series game. Frisch’s fielding and multiple crucial plays by Giants infielder turned the tide while Watson relief pitching stifled a late Senator rally. The crowd of about 50 000 saw New York take a 2 1 series lead as both clubs had previously won 4 3.
Washington and New York produced a pitching heavy contest with frequent baserunners. Harris's single and Goslin infield hit set up scoring chances while Gowdy, Lindstrom and Kelly provided key hits in a back and forth effort that ended with Washington sealing the win in the ninth.
