Agreement reached on water fee surcharge between Amherst and Elyria
Amherst and Elyria negotiators reached a tentative deal lowering the water surcharge from 22 percent to 5 percent on the Middle Ridge Road line. The plan could save Amherst about 55,000 dollars annually, with potential customer savings of roughly 16.50 dollars per year if city rates drop. Both councils must approve the proposed rate.

Boy Drowns as Sister Rescued From Pond Near Home
In Wakeman Township a 4 year old, David Kreger, drowned after both children wandered into a pond 75 feet from their mobile home. His 22 month old half sister Tasha Ortner was rescued in critical condition and taken to St. Vincent's Hospital. The pond sits on land owned by their grandmother Kenneth Rogers.
