A New York Central Express collided with a derailed tank car in Erie Pennsylvania at 1 12 a m causing a fire extending along the train. 37 people were injured with 25 treated at hospitals and 10 detained. 12 more treated at the scene by the Erie Red Cross. Most passengers escaped under their own power as fire crews sprayed chemical fog to curb the blaze.

Ruth Ann Johannson, four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johannson, is in serious condition at Norwalk Memorial Hospital after a pitchfork accident at home. Her sister Joan, six, accidentally struck her with a short handled pitchfork in the barn, piercing the skull above the eye. Doctors report two new drugs are being used and there is hope for recovery. Authorities are investigating the disappearance of two heifers in the North Eaton area near Route 76.

Accident Victims Return Home After Canfield Crash
Mr and Mrs Herman Lappin of 102 Kaisercourt were injured in a Canfield crash Sunday night and released from Southside Hospital Youngstown to a physician here. They were brought to the home of Mrs Lucille Burnett 409 Gulf road. Mrs Lappin has a serious leg laceration and is bedbound while Mr Lappin has a broken fibula in a cast. Their car was badly damaged.
