Fears of toxic smoke from a Taylor Street electrical substation fire prompted police to seal the area and order residents indoors for about four hours. Officials said no PCBs were released and no injuries were reported as power briefly dipped for 7500 customers.
Elyria police arrest 24 year old John Mitchell Jr. in connection with the Sept. 13 Crossings Apartments stabbings that killed Frederick J. Smith 20 and wounded Kenneth Bradstock 21. Mitchell faces one murder count and arraignment is set for Monday in Elyria Municipal Court.
Outside flood watch issued with cloudy skies and scattered showers today and tonight. Highs near 65 to 70 degrees and lows around 50 to 55. Sunday remains mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s.
