Sir Thomas Lipton, famed British sportsman and self made businessman, died last night at 81. Plans for his funeral were announced with services set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Southern Necropolis in Glasgow. Born into poverty, Lipton rose to wealth and international esteem through shipping, industry, and yacht racing, best known for Shamrock campaigns and the phrase that called the America’s Cup “that blooming old mug.”

Attempted Slaying Of Swimmer Benoit In Toronto
