Salmon run tops this fall fishing slate in area rivers
Coho salmon are entering the Huron and Chagrin rivers for fall action. Expect pinks around 4 pounds and chinook up to 20 pounds in the Huron while coho and Rainbow trout draw anglers in the Chagrin. Biologists estimate over 9,000 coho in the Chagrin run plus thousands of two and three year old trout. Officials foresee a possible state record coho weight this season. Most anglers will focus on the Huron River.

64-pound largemouth bass lands in Turnpike pond
Elyria angler Dave Lewis, 23, thought he had a carp when the heavy fish surfaced. He landed a 64-pound largemouth bass using a plastic worm at a Turnpike pond off Murray Ridge Road, aided by a flashlight held by his father. He sent the trophy to the taxidermist and plans to mount it.
