Visions of Ufo Beliefs and Death’s Quiet Refrain
A veteran doctor recalls encounters with strange presences and the King of Terror. He contrasts terrifying visitation with a door’s gentle opening and closing, noting convulsions and a serene postmortem calm. Funeral parlors shift to cheerful, brisk decor, flags of grief replaced by tranquil flowers. Death is increasingly seen as temporary separation and poets seek stark beauty in mortality. Thomas Gray’s elegy, though stirring, spills color into the reader’s thoughts.
