Auto sales in Lorain County remained high last month with 293 new passenger cars sold, up from 152 a year earlier. There were 28 new trucks sold, up from 21, and Elyria accounted for 151 of the total motor vehicles sold. August figures showed 345 new cars and 32 trucks sold in the county.

Grand Jury Is Summoned For Wednesday
Lorain county to convene a grand jury at 9 a.m. Wednesday to decide on the case of a 38 year old Lorain woman held on a concealed weapons charge and seven other pending matters. Prosecutor Butter and Judge Findley ordered the early session after a conference this morning. The woman, bound over by Lorain Municipal Court, was jailed after resisting arrest with a loaded revolver and a knife in a bag. She previously attempted suicide and was treated at Eltria Memorial Hospital before returning to jail. Bond remains at 500 dollars. Other cases include non support larceny and breaking and entering. Grand jurors summoned include Melvin Brown and others from Elyria Lorain Birmingham Wellington and Avon Lake.
