The Ohio Supreme Court ethics arm has filed a complaint against former Lorain County judge James Burge for misdemeanor convictions and alleged misconduct during his tenure. The action follows a years-long probe into undisclosed interests in Whiteacre North and related conflicts surrounding his law firm operations and office building.
Absentee ballots are out for overseas and military voters. Lorain County residents may register by Oct 11 to vote in the November election. Board of Elections offices in Lorain will stay open until 9 p.m. that day. Offices close Oct 10 for Columbus Day. Voters can check registration at braincountyelections.com or sos.state.oh.us. Joshua Gaspar, 37, of Columbia Station, faced arraignment in Cleveland on two vehicular homicide counts and a DUI charge for the Sept. 15 death of Trooper Kenneth Velez. Judge David Matia set bond at 1 million as Gaspar entered a not guilty plea.
