Director Sam Linzell presented a 68 page report detailing projects for 1954 and future dates including Route 20 from Elyria to Route 10 in Lorain County estimated at 750000 for second half of 1954.

Police raid basement uncovers gambling and disorderly house
In Elyria a dawn raid at 308 Sixteenth Street led to seven men found at a table with $18.50 and card decks. About 30 others were present drinking beer and highballs. Elyria firefighters logged the 200th fire alarm of the year on a Saturday afternoon when a TV set owned by Sam Chance at 144 West Street ignited from shorted wiring. The blaze destroyed the set after being moved outside. Early Sunday a fire department response to 316 Lodi Street found an overheated furnace but no fire. Owner Robert Chesler was ordered to remove a basement fire hazard near the furnace after a partition was found built above it.

Five Lakewood youths hurt in Columbia Township crash
Five Lakewood residents were treated at Beren Community Hospital after a 1953 model convertible left Route 252 in Columbia Township, struck a billboard and trees, with driver Donald Kelly cited for failure to keep the car under control. UN Delegates Tied Russians to NK Prison Camps
American delegate Henry Cabot Lodge Jr told the United Nations General Assembly that Russian civil and military officials led North Korea's prison camp command structure where nearly 38,000 soldiers and civilians, including over 6,000 GIs, were murdered or tortured.
