A tentative Senate Farm Bloc program outlines tax reform shifting burdens from the rich to income taxes and inheritance taxes. It calls for lower freight costs and broader government support for agriculture including a cooperative marketing movement and charting trade enhancements.
Foreign news stated that the United States and Great Britain may announce a completion of a treaty permitting American ships to search suspected liquor ships beyond territorial limits and authorizing passenger carrying by sealed liquor stores in ports, signaling a new naval accord.
Irving Phipps 65 died after an illness at home of his sister Mrs D T Howells. He lived in Bellevue and worked for the railroad then as an engineer on the Nickel Plate. Survived by four brothers a daughter and many relatives. Funeral services will be held at Bellevue Monday at 9 o clock.
Henry Peters, 43, estranged husband of Mrs. Mary Peters, was held by police in Chicago pending coroner's inquest after a Thanksgiving rooming house fire killed an elderly couple, John and Josie Coyne. A former resident, Joseph Roly, was sought amid threats. Peters acknowledged access to the home. Darnek and Rankas injured in the blaze are expected to recover.
Wednesday evening at Middle avenue and Seventh street two automobiles collided injuring one person. Mrs Stoddard driving south and Sam Poinessa driving west collided. Poinessa bruised and taken to hospital by Taxlor's ambulance before returning home. A Wade Williams taxi was later struck by H B Farmer at Fourth Street. both vehicles damaged and damages to be settled per police record.
Warren T. McCray governor of Indiana was indicted by the Marion county Grand Jury in Indianapolis. The eight counts relate to his financial affairs under investigation for several weeks and were filed with the Marion County Circuit Court today.
A grateful message from Mrs. Artemas Beebe thanks women and workers for their help with the Community Chest drive. She expresses appreciation for cooperation and dedication in supporting the cause and acknowledges the collective effort and support.
City lights failed for three quarters of an hour last night, then again for forty five minutes at 10 30. No major injuries reported though traffic risk increased at Fourth Street and Middle Avenue. The outage affected movie houses and candy stands as residents improvised with candles and lamps while workers traced a faulty line blamed on heavy rain.

The health nurse office that had been in the Chronicle Telegram building for a year is moved to room 314 Ma some Temple. The move aims for larger quarters to accommodate expanded services.

Raymond Henry Norweb from Tokio Japan sent a $500 subscription to the Community Chest. Norweb is a public schools graduate now with the U S diplomatic service and had been at the Paris embassy before being reassigned after the Japanese earthquake.
Officials and citizens including Mayor Jones Mrs Stevens Mr and Mrs Crandall Rev and Mrs Kurbr Drs Saan and Muhiy and many others express intent to respond to Golden Rule Sunday. Contributions may be placed in church envelopes or at the Central Book Store ahead of Sunday services.
Mrs Adaline Dye of 128 Grant Street died this morning at Wellington at age 87 11 months 14 days She is survived by four children E D Pre Mrs Baker of Westview Mrs Jane Hoskin of Portland Oregon and Miss Marion Dye 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
