Residents question airport expansion at Elyria district meet
Elyria residents voiced distrust of the Lorain County Transportation Improvement District at its first meeting. The seven member board, created by the county commissioners in 1997, could levy taxes and issue bonds with up to 500000 dollars in state planning funds. Some fear the panel aims to expand Lorain County Regional Airport, while others press for broader city township representation and clear open meeting notice practices. The board plans to meet again January 28 at 1 PM to discuss priorities such as a North South Corridor linking northern and southern county areas near the airport.
