Sheffield Lake approves police wage pact in three year contract
Sheffield Lake council approved a three year police pay contract retroactive to Jan 1 1983 with the Northern Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association. The package costs about $61 000 for the first year plus for eight full time officers three sergeants and five patrolmen. The deal raises salaries and extends benefits funded by two permanent levies approved in 1982.

Lorain County ties fuel bids to market averages
Lorain County will buy 185000 gallons of gasoline and diesel for six months using bids tied to market averages from PAD reports. Independent Energy Corp. offered the low bid and would hold prices to those averages, while Varouh Oil Co. and Universal Oil Co. were 1.8 and 2.35 cents above the PAD report average. Approval from the county engineer is expected next week.
