Navy studies fish camouflage in light to aid invisibility tech
The University of Texas study, funded by the U S Navy, shows big-eyed scad and lookdown use guanine platelets on silvery skin to disrupt polarized light and blend with light fields. Researchers conducted a 1500 angle polarimeter test off the Florida Keys and Curacao to reveal chase angles where predators miss them.
