Sau Gilford, founder of Gilford Instrument Laboratories, died in a weekend airplane crash with his wife and her daughter. The executive built the firm from two to about 960 employees over 21 years, moving to Oberlin and expanding to 150000 square feet. The company, profitable with 1979 net income of 1.6 million on sales of 31.4 million, will memorialize him next week as directors consider a replacement.
