John D. Pincura, 46, former football star and Democratic attorney, was installed as judge of the Lorain county court of common pleas in a ceremony in No. 1 courtroom. He pledged to administer justice fairly and impartially as the new robe wearing bench tradition began.
More than 100 couples from at least 12 area high schools will attend Elyria High School’s first annual Military Ball in the gym starting at 8 30 tonight. Lorain County bands are represented with directors and wives invited.
In Medina Ohio the 85 acre Mast and Max Amerman estate auction began at noon with cattle pigs grain and feed offered. The 12 acres of standing corn were included though the farm itself remained owned by Amerman and rented to Harold Mast until after his murder and confession. The lot was deeded to Mast’s widow Randi.
Eleven cars of a westbound Pensylvania freight train derailed near the downtown depot tearing up nearly two blocks of rails and forcing traffic onto another branch. Authorities reported no injuries and the cause remained undetermined.

Lorain county deputies report four deer killed this week by vehicles as the deer season nears in January. A large buck was struck on Route 18 near 301 by two hunters cars, and two more deer died on Route 82 between Route 76 this morning. Norman Cramer of Durkee road and R D Grafton described a deer leaping fences into his path, another deer fatality followed when a second deer collided with John Ciber’s car on Route 82. The carcasses were taken to the Lorain county home.
Carl Kohler director of safety for General Industries Co will speak on Problems in Self-Development at the second lecture of the Human Relations symposium. A large group of adults enrolled in the Elyria Night School course will hear Kohler discuss job responsibility advancement training programs and preparation for new work fields. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Technical building of Elyria High School.
U S 7th Division armored column pushed about eight to twenty miles toward the Manchurian border on precipitous terrain and in a snowstorm. American forces suffered no casualties and planned to enter the former enemy stronghold at Papsan soon as the night eased. Meanwhile South Korean Capitol Division moved northeast along the coast toward the Soviet frontier as allied forces anticipate further northwest advances.
President Truman asks a short session to approve immediate famine relief for drought stricken Yugoslavia to shore up Marshal Tito’s regime against Soviet pressure. The appeal covers food aid only with no arms funding and cites a need to prevent collapse.
India will support the Tibetan appeal to the United Nations for aid against the Chinese invasion, said aiswamy Iyengar a member of the foreign affairs committee. India will not sponsor the appeal.
Washington reports the United States is weeks from the ground breaking of a multi million dollar H bomb project to produce tritium at a Dupont built plant. Officials say site selection is near agreement and construction could start soon with a 17 month Hanford style timeline.

South Korea acting prime minister Sung Mo Sihn after talks with General MacArthur predicted the Korean War would end in six weeks. He believed UN forces would reach Korea’s full frontier including Manchuria and Soviet Siberia by Christmas and that Communist guerrillas behind allied lines would be cleared out by year’s end. He rejected a buffer state south of the Yalu River.
M. E. Whitman of J C Penney and former Elyria Chamber leader was named chairman of the Elyria American Opportunity Committee by Chamber president Dexter S. Kimball Jr. Whitman will select members for the panel and announce names next week. The committee aims to promote a better understanding of the American business system based on individual initiative.
In SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO California a 20 foot boa constrictor was found in a municipal garbage dump. Officials say the snake likely killed six or seven dogs before burning to death in a nearby grass fire.
Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Vishinsky was expected to defend a six point peace program at the United Nations General Assembly. The plan seeks a permanent Chinese veto in the Security Council and world atomic control, with equal powers contributing to an international police force and noninterference in domestic affairs.
Arthur Anderson aged 39 proprietor of the Last Chance Restaurant and two women Betty Fortune 29 and Maxine Shanks 30 with John E. Anderson 25 of Lorain were held at the county jail for investigation after a 1230 a m arrest by deputies Guzick Davidson and Grunda at the Serf road residence.
Sir Hubert Wile bins, an Australian scientist and explorer, working as adviser to the US Army Quartermaster Corps in the Arctic, was reported injured by his wife today. Also advertised for sale a 5 ft Frigidaire and Kenmore vacuum sweeper with phone contact 35 M41.
The weather bureau released a 30 day outlook predicting above normal temperatures across most of the southern and western United States with California showing the greatest departures. Colder than normal conditions expected in the northern lakes region while New England and Middle Atlantic areas trend near normal.
Judy Brown of Amherst Public High School Lorain county won the top prize of 100 dollars in the fourth annual Ohio history government and citizenship contest sponsored by Ohio University. Marguerlen Shafer of Kinsman High School earned second place 50 dollars and Margie Ison of Hillsboro High School took third 25 dollars. Kent Duane Smith of Silvercreech Green County placed ninth and Joseph Muskat of Marietta placed 10th, each earning 10 dollars.
The Republican committee in Ohio filed a report stating the GOP campaign in the state this year spent in excess of 1.5 million dollars. The filing was announced in Columbus as the party outlined its financing and expenditures.
Theresa Ingenito told United Press from Newcombe Hospital how Ernest Ingenito returned home with two guns and opened fire. He killed her father, wounded others, and shot her mother across the street as children hid upstairs. She says they had separated recently after his infidelity.
Ernest Ingenito, 25, armed with four guns, killed five relatives and wounded four others in a wife related shooting spree across Malaga and Vineland area. He surrendered meekly to state troopers after a fruitless escape attempt in a battered green sedan. Three other relatives were among the injured. two sons survived unharmed.
The Catholic Action paper Tl Quotidiano cites a Vienna dispatch claiming Cardinal Mindszenty, Hungary’s imprisoned primate, has lost speech memory and limb use. Three Russian specialists are said to have been sent by Stalin to treat him. Also notes a church meeting notice in Elyria at Chast Temple Church.
