Hart Lumber Yard and Early Elyria Bank Roots
Local history traces the Hart Lumber Yard at Pine Street and East Avenue North to its rise in Elyria with founder John W. Hart. The yard later became Hart & Tucker and then switched owners before closing around 1900. The piece also notes Hart family ties, local banking origins with Savings Deposit Bank, and community figures like Charles Tucker and Louis J. Hart.
