Paris November 16 The League of Nations Council met for its final effort to prevent war in Manchuria as hostilities raged along the Namni River front. Japan faced a deadline to withdraw its troops, and a new plan proposed by the United Press envisages Chinese appointing a strong war lord to curb banditry with Japanese moral support. Aristide Briand opened the session urging delegates to uphold peace obligations under the League.

County Relief Meeting Today In Lorain County
In Lorain county a county relief meeting with mayors safety directors township trustees and welfare workers will be held this afternoon in the county commissioners office. The third meeting since the group formed, it marks the first invitation to mayors and trustees. Governor White plans a fall bridge repair and building program to ease unemployment with roughly $40,000 from the state and about $3,000 from the county. Pays fine release from county jail in school case
Paul Ackerman, 43, of Kipton, was released from county jail Saturday after paying a total of 40.20 in fines and costs for failing to send his 17-year-old daughter to school. Former Elyrian Fatally Injured in Washington Accident
Word was received of the sudden death of Robert C. Slough, 24, son of Mr and Mrs Frank M Slough of Forest Clift Drive Cleveland, former Elyria residents. He died in an automobile crash in Bremerton Washington on Saturday. Funeral services will be held in this city and announced later. He was born in Elyria and attended St Mary's School.
