Amherst to seek extended bond for new elementary school
Amherst voters may see a ballot measure to extend a 15 year old bond in 2016 to fund a $30 million pre K to grade 3 school. The plan hinges on a 50 50 state local financing split and approval from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The district aims to refinance the existing 3.8 mill bond at no extra cost to homeowners.

The project weathered a flood and $52 000 in damage but secured grants and private donations totaling roughly $774 000. Valor Home houses 22 veterans and offers counseling employment and housing help with partners at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
