Scientists map out destroyed Afghan Buddha model
Swiss researchers at ETH Zurich built a 3D polyurethane model of the Bamiyan Buddhas using 34 year old photos and CNC milling. The larger statue stood 174 feet high, the other about 195 feet, both toppled by the Taliban in March 2001. A replica about 17 feet tall should be completed next spring for Kabul Museum. Reconstruction would cost around 30 million dollars per statue and may rely on private donations with UNESCO approval.

How low should bad cholesterol go study finds answer
The study compares Lipitor and Pravadhol in 654 adults with coronary disease, lowering LDL from over 125 to 80 with high dose statins. It suggests LDL targets as low as possible may best stop artery clogging, though experts warn guidelines need time to adjust. Pfizer sponsors Lipitor trial. Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsors the near-complete Pravadhol study.
