GM Pact Outlined as GM Union Votes on Three Year Contract

DETROIT AP Representatives of 394000 striking GM workers meet to decide acceptance or rejection of a tentative three year contract with UAW. If approved by the 350 member GM council, the pact goes to the rank and file for a vote. The deal includes wage rises of about 51 cents hourly in the first year and phased increases in later years, plus early retirement options at age 58 with 30 years service and a $500 monthly pension, and basic pensions rising with years of service. Rejection would push talks back and extend the eight week strike into 1971, while the outline details cost of living adjustments and quarterly CPI-based wages after the first year.
