Market rally after election boosts global stocks
Asian markets surged as Trump led Clinton in vote counts and U S stocks rose with strong gains on Wednesday. The Nikkei 225 jumped about 6 percent in early trading, U S indices rallied with the Dow up 256.95 points, S P 500 up 23.70 and Nasdaq higher, as investors priced in potential infrastructure spending and tax cuts. Bonds sold off with the 10 year yield rising to 2.08 percent, as traders priced in higher rates and looser regulation under a Trump administration.

FirstEnergy to Sell or Close Plants If Regulation Fails
FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones warned in Cleveland that the Akron firm may sell or shut its coal and nuclear plants within two years unless Ohio and Pennsylvania restore regulation or create similar price controls. Unregulated subsidiaries struggle with current prices, pressuring Davis-Besse Perry and Beaverville facilities and their 3,500 workers. Jones expects some units to be sold and others closed, not waiting for officials to act.
