Hillary Clinton conceded the presidency after a rancorous race, urging respect for the peaceful transfer of power and asking supporters to accept the result. She acknowledged deep national division, expressed belief in America, and said Donald Trump will be our president with an open mind owed to his leadership.

Elyria voters pass Issue 23 by just over 56 percent to demolish 11 aging buildings and build five new schools and a football stadium. Volunteers campaigned door to door and on street corners as residents backed the Athletic Complex Master Plan and a new stadium advocate, Bob DuPont, participated in meetings and subcommittees.
Oberlin residents and students react to Donald Trump victory. Clinton Kaine carried the town by 4 575 to 412, sparking protests and acts of response such as rock spray painting in Tappan Square. Local coverage notes Oberlin’s liberal tilt in Lorain County.
Superintendent David Hall says the American flags at Oberlin High School and elementary school were upside down for a few hours Wednesday morning in what he calls a prank. Custodians corrected the flags and cameras will be reviewed. no vandalism charge anticipated. He will discuss with school police officers.
