Tree falls on child in Amherst Township yard
A 5 year old girl was seriously injured when a 50 foot tree toppled onto her behind a Rosedale Avenue house in Hidden Valley subdivision. The child was flown by helicopter to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland in serious condition and was undergoing surgery Friday evening. The babysitter, raking leaves about 20 feet away, heard the gust that brought the rotted tree down. The tree, about 2 feet in diameter, struck the yard behind the home near Amherst Township Park where an ambulance first took the girl before the helicopter transfer.
