Ads push sensory, pop-up and fragrance inserts in magazines
Readers widely recall and sponsor identification rise with innovative inserts. TransAmerica spent 3 million on a pop-up ad in Time and 5.5 million copies circulated. Intervisual built a complex Dodge pop-up for Sports Illustrated. Fragrance strips, fragrance panels and cosmetic inserts gain popularity, with IBM France using a four page sound and light ad in Le Point. Vogue notes rare reader responses.
