A severe blizzard swept the upper Midwest and Rockies with heavy snow and zero readings near the Canadian border. Snow totals reached eight inches in Colorado and Wyoming, six inches in northern Minnesota and North Dakota. Storms froze roads, delayed buses, and halted Northwest Airlines flights Fargo to Billings. A separate note announces Fr. Two Die in Lorain Auto Truck Collision
Carl Dumont 24 of 331 North Abbe Road and Mrs Maxine Hostetler 30 of 135 Spruce Street died from skull fractures after a head on crash with a Norwalk Truck Co. truck at 1934 East Erie Avenue Lorain. Dumont died at 4 40 a m and Hostetler at 3 40 a m. The truck driver Christian Bettcher 31 of Cleveland reported the car veered toward the north curb and struck the truck. Bettcher suffered bruises. Dumont, born Potsdam New York June 3 1926 had lived with his brother Edward at the Abbe Road address. He is survived by his mother four brothers and four sisters. Hostetler an inspector at General Motors, born Buckhannon West Virginia December 19 1919 resided here nine years. She is survived by her parents three brothers and two sisters and grandmother Lizzie Westfall. Funeral arrangements pending. body to Buckhannon.

Former Lorain Merchant Dies After Lingering Illness
Peter J. Schnitzler a longtime Lorain County merchant died at Shields Rest Home at 5 45 p m after a lingering illness. Born in Cleveland in 1867 he moved to Sheffield township in 1868 and to Lorain in 1889. He owned a grocery and meat market in Lorain for 38 years and later worked at the Lorain shipyards for 15 years. He attended St Marys school and lived with his uncle Rev Fr John T Scheffeld. He leaves a wife two daughters Berniece O Donnel of Elyria and Mildred here two sons Rev E Schnitzler of Lorain and William of Lorain thirteen grandchildren and two sisters and a brother. Funeral set for 10 30 a m Saturday at St Marys Church with Msgr Newton officiating. Burial in St Marys Cemetery. Special note about tomorrows game mum ribbons and flowers listed.
