Costly Farm Blaze Near Wellington Destroys Barn and Livestock
A fire at Wilbur T. Starr’s Route 18 farm near Wellington caused an estimated loss of 8000 to 10000 dollars. The blaze destroyed a large barn along with 24 cattle, a sheep, 400 bushels of oats, 15 tons of hay, two silos, soy beans, a milking machine, and other farm implements. A nearby trucker alerted the Crawford family and neighbor Walter Gregg, and Wellington firefighters saved only a horse shed as flames engulfed the barn. Starr and sister Florence Starr live at 424 Herrick Avenue East Wellington.

Labor Trouble Closes Down Hudson Plant
