Sheffield voters reject five year levy to close district deficit
Sheffield residents vote against Issue 4 a five year 9.5 mill operating levy that would have kept Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Schools from a 2.5 million deficit. The levy failed 2331 to 1353 63 to 36 percent with taxes rising 332 annually on a 100000 home. District officials say even if passed the district would only avoid red ink for three years and plan cuts and possible layoffs plus a fiscal watch.
