Gates aims to end malaria in his lifetime with bigger funding

Bill Gates said his foundation will raise its malaria program budget by 30 percent to over 200 million dollars annually as part of a broader push to eradicate malaria. He urged pursuing multiple approaches including drugs and vaccines to clear the parasite and eliminate the disease in the next generation. The remarks came at a global health conference in New Orleans amid Ebola fears that led Louisiana officials to restrict attendance for travelers from affected West African nations.
