Lawyer for the Dead Israel Ticas digs clandestine graves in El Salvador
Criminologist Israel Ticas leads a 72 hour effort to recover bodies from secret graves near San Salvador. He documents hundreds of cases linked to Mara Salvatrucha and 18th Street gangs, noting women and minors among the dead. He teaches forensic methods, faces threats, and preserves a grim archive of violence as he works to build murder evidence for the attorney general.
