Algeria may act as go between in hostage release

Reports from Tehran say Algeria may mediate to free the U S hostages held in Iran after a year in captivity while the State Department says there is no confirmation that the militants have handed over control or that Algeria agreed to oversee the hostages. The four Iranian conditions include non intervention assets and repatriation of wealth. Carter calls the parliament decision positive and US diplomacy continues.

The Elyria family of Army Warrant Officer Joseph Hall remains cautiously optimistic that Algeria may soon take custody of 52 American hostages. Relatives cite prior false starts and say they have heard little from the State Department. A June 12 letter from Hall to his sister shows determined resolve amid the crisis. Satellite cities rise as postwar buyers reshape housing

A Hudson Institute analysis in American Demographics foresees four million Americans reaching homebuying age each year from 1983 to 1995 and a 66 percent rise in those at peak homeowning age by 2000. Satellite cities with smaller lots and row houses could form as demand shifts to cheaper markets, while a shortage of single family homes for low income families and broader urban sprawl politics loom.

Greater Cleveland's rebound hinges on water and new industries

Cleveland State economist John Burke says the region remains tied to manufacturing and autos, facing slow growth while service jobs rise. He notes aging plants, plant closures, and migration to higher growth areas, urging focus on technology, education, finance and medical services. He sees gradual growth but lagging behind national rates. He remains optimistic about local opportunities and life in Cleveland.

Hostage saga spans pages A Four to A Seven

Analysis argues hostage release will not aid Carter as Iran moves. Ex hostage praises Iran, while Iran oil minister is captured by Iraq. Tran to receive millions in arms if hostages freed.
