Plea to block ship with Ukrainian sailor denied
Three Ukrainian American groups said they will appeal a federal judge’s ruling denying a request to halt a Soviet ship from leaving U.S. waters with Miroslav Medvid aboard. Medvid, who escaped a freighter in the Mississippi River twice, was forced to return. The White House called the matter closed while Meese sought a full explanation of Border Patrol actions.
