Judge orders mental evaluation in Dempsey sex case
In Cleveland on November 15 psychiatrists will examine Jerry E. Dempsey to determine competence for trial on 49 teen sex charges. The 56 year old Lakewood lawyer is accused of running a sex ring with his 12 year old adopted son, prostitutes and teens. Dempsey did not attend the hearing. he remains free on bond as lawyers push for discovery.

Elyria highway patrol sergeant in charge the night of a Grafton Township crash will serve a suspension after a charges statement. Lt Robert D. Myers said a patrol personnel division spokesman. The Oct 9 accident killed Sandy Ledford 23 of North Ridgeville. her car struck a mailbox and flipped into a field. An internal probe found the sergeant erred and a patrol car should have responded that night.

DeChant freed on 75000 dollar bond in murder case
Gregory DeChant 21 Avon was released from Lorain County jail Thursday after posting a 75000 cash bond on a sealed indictment returned by a Lorain County grand jury Tuesday. The case includes death penalty specifications. DeChant, a Cleveland State University student, pleaded innocent at a Thursday arraignment before Judge Joseph Cirigliano. A pre trial hearing is set for November 25. Tonight and Saturday expect rain with highs around 60.
