Matia Advances in Appeals Court Race Facing Harper
Cleveland area race for the 8th District Court of Appeals sees Judge David T. Matia, 57, backed by the Cleveland Bar Association and Cleveland Citizens League as the preferred candidate. Harper, 60, a Cleveland Municipal Court judge and Republican, is seeking the seat. The job pays 70 000 a year for a six year term.

St Joseph Hospice names nursing director as acting head
Madge DeFazio, nursing director at St Joseph Hospital Hospice Program, is named Acting Executive Director of the Catholic Hospice Network. The network grew from a 1985 Diocese of Cleveland task force to formalize hospice programs. DeFazio joins St Joseph in 1978, with a background at the University of Kentucky and a Case Western Reserve masters in gerontological nursing.
