Syrian and British ambassadors quit capitals in rift
In London and Damascus both sides expelled ambassadors after Britain cut diplomatic relations over alleged Syrian complicity in a plot to blow up an Israeli jet. Loutfallah Haydar denied any truth to the British claims while Roger Tomkys said Syria would be difficult to reconcile soon. Lebanon and Australia will handle each side’s interests in the two capitals.
