Oberlin faces criticism over non renewed job program
Oberlin critics from Rust Methodist Church and the Oberlin NAACP say ending the job placement program will hurt unemployed residents. The program, funded with $189,000 from Lorain County Private Industry Council, trains and places Lorain County residents in jobs but has only placed 27 of 41 goal so far. City manager Dale Sugerman defends the move, noting incomplete first round goals and consideration of resubmission later if job openings widen.
