Socialists Plan Vigorous Fight For Presidency
The Socialist National executive committee in Cleveland after a four day convention drafted plans for Norman Mattoon Thomas third presidential bid. It vows a vigorous campaign on a platform favoring public ownership of key industries and broad congressional control over industry and agriculture. The group backs a farmers and workers rights amendment to the US Constitution and seeks a united front with the Communist party only after November. Thomas urged delaying action on the alliance and proposed a referendum after the election.
