Modell group to take over WWWE WDOK Cleveland stations
The Modell group led by Art Modell plans to acquire WWWE AM and WDOK FM from Gannett, moving much WJW programming to WWWE and keeping WDOK’s easy listening. GM changes, potential departures, and the Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns broadcast rights shifting to WWWE are noted, with Channel 19 sign on delays causing local cable adjustments.

Cable hookups delay local station channel 19 faces federal rule delays
Channel 19 grapples with new federal regulations requiring cable systems to carry the station as crews work from rooftops to hook up old antenna leads. Channel 19 general manager Hubert Payne says sign-on dates are set with most systems, with varied cooperation from operators while some delay persists. Meanwhile WKYC-TV Channel 3 airs a recap and highlights of last weekend's Revco Cleveland Marathon and 10 Kilometer Race, and WCLQ-TV Channel 61 showcases Oscar winners in a lineup of classic films this week.
