Truck leaves highway after front tire blows in Ohio
A right front tire blowout sent a truck driven by Robert Radke of Amherst into a ditch near the Lorain Erie County line yesterday afternoon. Radke was not hurt and damage was light. Another car driven by Carl Wilhelm and a third by Leo New, both Amherst residents, were only slightly damaged with no injuries or arrests reported.

Brownhelm Area Seeks Sanitary Sewer District Board Plant
Residents of the Sunnys de Beach area petitioned the county commissioners Monday to establish a sanitary sewer district and build a sewage disposal plant for their area. The petition was filed by Benjamin Tavior, a local trustee, on behalf of the signers.

Gerald A Pure USN aviation electronics technician second class son of Mrs Florence M Frye l Avon Lake reported for duty May 13 with Air Development Squadron 4 at Paint Mugu Naval Air Station Test Center Port Hueneme Cal. Raye who entered the Navy in September 1948 previously served with Ant Submarine Squadron Jo based at the Naval Air Station San Diego. George RK Spaiss son of Mr and Mrs Richard Sparks LaGrange recently participated in Exercise Barracuda a field training maneuver at Ft Kobbe Canal Zone. Sparks a cannoneer in Battery B of the 41st Field Artillery Battalion entered the Army 4 April 1944 and completed basic training at Camp Chaffee Ark.

Lorain County fair announces beard contest starting June 1 with four classes and cash prizes totaling 210 for first and second place in each. Entry requires name address telephone, postmarked June 1–15, and a barber signature confirming entrant is clean shaven. Open class allows any beard length. Judges will be local barbers from Lorain County communities.

Junior Chamber Net Meet Set in Cleveland
BS Qualifying rounds for the state Junior Chamber of Commerce teams tournament will be held in Cleveland in June 2025. The junior division is for boys under 18 and the boys division for mentee under 15. Cleveland winners advance to the state meet at Bluffton July 10 with the national tourney set for August 9 in San Antonio Texas.
