Thirty Fruehauf drivers honored at sixth annual banquet

Thirty drivers from the Fruehauf Trailer Company were honored for long safe driving records at the sixth annual Aver Lake Terminal banquet in the Elks Marine Room. Avon Lake terminal manager Robert L. Seeley was praised for his transfer to Detroit and received a wrist watch. Elmo Anderson of Elyria was named his successor at Avon Lake. Walter Siegrist of Detroit, the company vice president, spoke at the event, noted for expanding the firm's reach on the west coast and in Canada.

K O C Council To Confer Degrees At Elks Club Banquet

The Knights of Columbus Council No. 774 in Elyria will confer major degrees Sunday at 1 PM for about 50 members in honor of Urban Obringer. A 6 30 PM banquet for new members follows at the Elks Club, announced Grand Knight John R. Kurek.

Suit to Compel Levy for Oberlin District Hospital

A suit was filed in the Ohio Supreme Court to compel Lorain County Auditor Frank Ayres to levy a voters approved real estate tax for an Oberlin district hospital. E D Schramm, acting president of the joint hospital district, seeks to resolve legality questions after district voters approved a $130 000 bond issue and Oberlin had previously appropriated $295 000 for hospital purposes. The dispute centers on whether Russia township voters outside Oberlin city could approve the levy, though Oberlin is within Russia township.

Final Birdwalk Sunday Morning

Two Elyria youths are new enlistees in the Regular Army and the U S Air Force. James G Sivard, 21, of 150 Ohio Street, ships to Sampson Air Force Base New York for a four year term. Booster Club Supports LaGrange Penfield Consolidation Plan

The LaGrange Booster Club and service groups announce to voters that consolidating the Penfield LaGrange district will not raise taxes for a new building or additions. They cite a recent addition at LaGrange High to house students from both schools. A remonstrance petition by Penfield residents to dissolve the consolidation is alleged to misrepresent facts.
