In Elyria Ohio jury selection begins for Shawn Kelley accused of a New Year’s Day assault and murder. About 70 potential jurors are being questioned to gauge knowledge of the case and views on the death penalty as the three week trial proceeds with Kelley expected to testify in his own defense.
Cedar Fair LP signed a 1.24 billion deal to add five parks including Kings Island near Cincinnati and Canada's Wonderland to its portfolio. The move makes Cedar Fair the third largest North American operator by attendance and could allow cross promotion for season pass holders next year.
The big three spent 250 million hours at Six Flags parks. Cedar Fair and partner San dusky would own and operate 12 amusement parks and five water parks in North America if regulators approve Monday's deal. Last year Cedar Fair hosted 12.7 million guests across seven water parks while Paramount Park's five North American amusement parks drew 12.2 million.
Kings Island in Mason Ohio shows its thrill roster with Beast the longest wooden coaster and Flight of Fear a first of its kind steel ride. Beast, built 1979, features 7,400 feet of track, 218-foot lift, a wood loop and speeds up to 78 mph. Flight of Fear rockets to 60 mph in four seconds with four inversions on nearly 4,000 feet of track.
Lt Gov Bruce Johnson said Honda will build a 400 million plant by 2008, employing 1500 workers and producing 200000 vehicles annually, with Van Wert and Fayette counties favored in Ohio while Lorain and Lorain Ford Plant are not top contenders.
